The family of veteran gospel singer Deborah Fasoyin has dismissed viral reports circulating on social media claiming that the renowned musician is dead.
Her son, Korede Fasoyin, debunked the rumour on Monday while speaking with The Punch, stating that the reports about his mother’s death were false.
The rumour had spread widely online with several posts carrying the singer’s photograph accompanied by “RIP” inscriptions, while many social media users posted condolence messages.
Reacting to the development, Korede Fasoyin clarified that his mother is alive and that the family is already preparing a video in which the veteran singer will personally address the public to reassure well-wishers.
He said the family began receiving numerous calls from both within Nigeria and abroad shortly after the rumour surfaced online.
According to him, many callers sought confirmation of the report, prompting the family to quickly respond and dismiss the claim as false.
Deborah Fasoyin recently celebrated her 86th birthday on March 1, 2026.
The respected gospel singer is widely known within the Christ Apostolic Church and across Nigerian gospel music circles for her popular Yoruba gospel song Odun n Lo Sopin.
Over the years, her music has continued to influence generations of church music lovers, earning her recognition as one of the respected figures in Nigerian gospel music.
