The Niger State Government has presented a Certificate of Occupancy covering 100,000 hectares of land to the State Ministry of Finance under the Sustainable Integrated Productive Communities (SIPC) programme.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Niger State Government and the Federal Ministry of Finance, designed to drive integrated rural development and improve living conditions in underserved communities across the state.
As part of the programme, the Rural Electrification Agency disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has approved a $750 million fund for rural electrification nationwide, assuring Niger State of reliable power supply for the proposed SIPC communities.
The housing component of the project will be implemented in partnership with the Family Homes Fund, which is expected to deliver modern, affordable, and sustainable housing for beneficiaries within the integrated communities.
The Niger State Government said the issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy underscores its readiness and commitment to the successful implementation of the SIPC programme.
According to the state, the project is expected to transform rural settlements by replacing thatched homes with sustainable housing, reduce rural–urban migration, and enhance security by enabling residents to live and work within organised communities.
The SIPC programme is also projected to support Niger State’s agricultural development agenda by providing critical infrastructure for farmers, thereby boosting productivity, improving livelihoods, and strengthening the rural economy.
