Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has inaugurated a newly completed modern mini stadium in Issele-Uku, Delta State, describing it as a symbol of unity, youth empowerment, and regional progress.
Announcing the development via a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, Nwoko said the project reflects his commitment to community development and grassroots sports promotion.
“This project was conceived to inspire our youths, promote healthy competition, and strengthen community spirit,” the lawmaker wrote.
The new sports facility boasts a standard football pitch, a seven-a-side multi-sports arena, pavilions on both sides, and modern dressing rooms, designed to serve as a hub for recreation and athletic excellence in the region.
Nwoko noted that the project aligns with his broader vision of building infrastructures that “uplift, empower, and unite” communities across Delta North.
“For me, every project is about impact — about giving our people access to facilities that uplift, empower, and unite. With this stadium, we are nurturing the next generation of athletes and leaders who will make Delta North proud,” he said.
The senator reaffirmed his commitment to sustained community transformation, adding that the initiative is part of a long-term plan to improve youth engagement and social development in his constituency.
“Our journey of transformation continues, one community at a time,” he added.
The unveiling ceremony drew praise from residents and local sports enthusiasts, who described the project as a much-needed boost for youth development in the area.
Nwoko has been a vocal advocate of innovative infrastructure and agricultural reform. PUNCH Online earlier reported that he proposed a bill seeking the establishment and management of ranches across all 774 local government areas and the Federal Capital Territory to promote food security and curb open grazing.
The mini stadium, located in the heart of Issele-Uku, is expected to host local tournaments, school sports events, and community gatherings, further strengthening social bonds and promoting healthy lifestyles among young people.
