The Lagos State Security Trust Fund has provided the Lagos State Police Command with modern security and crime-fighting equipment as part of efforts to strengthen policing and enhance public safety across the state.
The development was disclosed on Saturday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Media and Publicity, Wale Ajetunmobi, in a video shared on his X handle.
Speaking during the presentation, the Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, Dr Ayo Ogunsan, described the donation as a strategic intervention designed to improve the operational capacity of security agencies and boost the morale of personnel tasked with safeguarding residents.
According to Ogunsan, the initiative underscores the Lagos State Government’s commitment to investing in security infrastructure and ensuring law enforcement officers are adequately equipped to tackle emerging security challenges.
He noted that providing modern tools and protective gadgets would enhance the effectiveness of police operations and contribute to a safer environment for residents and businesses.
“The objective of this intervention is to ensure that our security personnel have the necessary equipment to respond promptly and effectively to security threats while maintaining peace and order across the state,” he said.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Lagos State Police Command, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, commended the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for their continued support of security agencies.
He described the donation as timely and assured residents that the equipment would be immediately deployed to strategic locations across the state.
“We appreciate the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for this valuable support. These gadgets will be put to immediate use in key Area Commands to strengthen our operations,” Fatai said.
The police commissioner added that the new equipment would improve surveillance capabilities, enhance response times, and support efforts to protect lives and property throughout Lagos.
“This intervention will significantly boost our surveillance capacity, improve operational efficiency, and further strengthen our ability to maintain law and order across the state,” he added.
The donation forms part of ongoing efforts by the state government to modernise security operations and promote intelligence-driven policing. In February, the LSSTF partnered with the Nigeria Police Force Airwing Command to commence aerial surveillance patrols across Lagos, aimed at improving intelligence gathering and crime prevention.
