As Nigeria’s creative economy continues to expand as a source of enterprise, employment and economic opportunity, LAPO Microfinance Bank has emerged as a key financial supporter of entrepreneurs in the sector, earning the Distinguished Award of Excellence for Creative Industry Support at the Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards (NEMCEA) 2026.
The recognition, presented during the second day of the exhibition, highlights the bank’s commitment to widening access to finance for content creators, media entrepreneurs and other small businesses operating within Nigeria’s creative economy.
For an industry largely driven by young entrepreneurs and small businesses, access to appropriate financing remains critical to turning creative talent and ideas into sustainable enterprises.
Speaking on the development, Director, Marketing and Communications, LAPO Microfinance Bank, Oluremi Akande, said supporting creative entrepreneurs was consistent with the institution’s broader financial inclusion mandate.
“The creative industry is driven by people who turn ideas, talent and passion into businesses and livelihoods. Our role is to ensure that access to finance does not become a barrier to their growth.”
He added that LAPO Microfinance Bank would continue to provide financial solutions that enable entrepreneurs across sectors to strengthen their businesses, create livelihoods and contribute to economic development.
The bank noted that creative entrepreneurs face many of the same financing challenges confronting micro, small and medium-sized businesses, particularly access to capital and opportunities to scale.
LAPO Microfinance Bank said it would continue to deepen its support for underserved entrepreneurs and contribute to building an inclusive economy where creativity, enterprise and access to finance can translate into sustainable livelihoods.
