The Lagos State chapter of the (NURTW) has unveiled a newly constructed motor park in Oyingbo, naming the facility after President .
The facility, officially christened the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Modern Garage, was inaugurated on Tuesday in the presence of top union leaders and Lagos State government officials.
Among dignitaries at the event were Lagos NURTW Chairman Mustapha Sego; the , His Royal Highness ; Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, ; Commissioner for Transportation, ; and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, .
Union officials described the new garage as a modern facility aimed at enhancing commuter convenience, improving operational efficiency for transport workers, and strengthening collaboration between the transport sector and government authorities.
The naming of the Oyingbo motor park adds to a growing list of public facilities dedicated to President Tinubu since he assumed office on May 29, 2023. Notable examples include the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way in Abuja, the Bola Tinubu Building at the , the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic in Gwarinpa, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks in Abuja, and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Adamawa State.
The trend of renaming public infrastructure after the president has generated mixed reactions. Supporters describe it as a fitting recognition of his leadership and contributions to national development, while critics argue that it raises concerns about personality-driven governance.
The inauguration of the Oyingbo garage highlights Lagos’ continued role as a focal point in the wave of commemorative projects associated with the Tinubu administration.
