Lagos, September 23, 2025 — The Lagos State Government has called on Community Development Associations (CDAs) and Community Development Committees (CDCs) across the state to deepen collaboration with local councils in order to strengthen communal peace and accelerate grassroots development.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Agbaje, made the appeal on Monday during the Ikorodu Division Interactive Meeting held at the Ikorodu Council Secretariat. He commended community leaders for their efforts in fostering peaceful coexistence but cautioned against the spread of unverified information capable of sparking unrest.
Agbaje explained that the engagement was aimed at guiding stakeholders on the proper application of the CDA constitution and enhancing their contribution to community progress. He further assured residents that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration remains committed to boosting investment in infrastructure that directly benefits grassroots communities.
“The roles of CDAs and CDCs in advancing the development of Lagos cannot be overstated,” Agbaje said, urging members to apply the knowledge gained during the session to improve conditions in their localities.
Representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Kikelomo Bolarinwa, the Director of the Community Development Department, Adeniji Oluwatoyin, praised stakeholders for supporting government initiatives, especially through self-help projects.
Ikorodu Local Government Chairman, Prince Abdullateef Ladega, also pledged sustained partnership with CDAs and CDCs, noting that their input will remain central to shaping policies that directly impact grassroots communities.
