Renowned Nigerian industrialist and Chief Executive Officer of Nuel Ojei Holdings Ltd, Emmanuel Ojei, popularly known as Nuel Ojei, has died at the age of 74.
Family sources disclosed that Ojei passed away on Saturday night in his hometown of Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, following a brief illness.
His son, Chuks Ojei, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Sunday on behalf of the family, describing the death as a profound shock.
“With a heavy heart, I confirm the passing of my beloved father. His death came as a profound shock to our family following a brief illness,” the statement read.
“Words cannot fully capture the depth of our pain at this moment, as we struggle to come to terms with the sudden loss of a man who was not only our father but our strength, teacher, and moral compass.”
The family described the late Ojei as more than a businessman, noting that he was a builder of lives and legacies. A distinguished entrepreneur and business magnate, he served as the founder, executive chairman and chief executive officer of Nuel Ojei Holdings Ltd.
According to the statement, through discipline, resilience and uncommon wisdom, Ojei built enterprises that created opportunities, inspired excellence and contributed significantly to national development.
“To many, he was a mentor and leader of rare integrity. To us, he was a loving father whose counsel guided our steps and whose values shaped our lives,” the family said, adding that he led with humility, strength and compassion, touching lives across generations.
The family noted that his death has left an irreplaceable void but said his teachings and example would continue to serve as a guide.
“Though his passing signals the end of a remarkable chapter, his legacy lives on in the institutions he built, the people he mentored, and the values he upheld,” the statement added.
Emmanuel Ojei is survived by his children, other family members, and a wide circle of friends, associates and admirers.
The family appealed for prayers and support during the period of mourning, stating that funeral arrangements and further details would be announced in due course.
