The Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo, has received the final report of the Tax Reform (Revenue) Committee from the chairman of the committee, Mr. Dipo Olumide.
During the presentation, Mr. Olumide commended the Executive Chairman for assembling a cosmopolitan and forward-thinking team that continues to drive the council’s vision of progressive governance.
He explained the process that guided the committee’s reform strategy to Hon. Moyosore and other officials at the event.
The committee chairman further disclosed that the new tax reform framework seeks to adopt a smart, technology-driven and service-based approach, which leverages digital data management systems and maintains strategic public-private partnerships to enhance revenue efficiency and accountability within the council.
In his response, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo expressed appreciation to the committee for a job well done. He commended their professionalism and punctuality.
In addition, he described the submission as “the first step in the right direction” and noted that the report would serve as a guide to the legislative arm in actualizing the robust revenue base envisioned for the council.
Hon. Moyosore also charged the legislative arm of the council to review the existing bye-laws within one month, ahead of the new fiscal year, to align them with the reform recommendations.
The Council Treasurer, Mr. Ismail Disu, applauded the Chairman’s unwavering commitment to fiscal reforms and emphasised that “it is encouraging to see a chairman who takes the issue of revenue generation and management very seriously.”
Similarly, the Leader of the House, Hon. Francis Nkwo, assured that the legislature would give the reform process the urgency and dedication it deserves. “With the little time we have,” he said, “we will ensure that the Chairman’s effort and vision for revenue reform are not in vain. We will do our best to maximize this opportunity and give back to our people in due time.”
