The Lagos State NULGE President, Comr. Sewanu Sunday Ogunfowora, led his executives and staff to an interactive session with the Executive Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo.
Speaking on behalf of the staff and NULGE executives, Comr. Ogunfowora outlined key concerns affecting the workforce and emphasised the importance of continuous staff development.
He highlighted the need for quality training programs to equip workers with the skills necessary to meet emerging demands in the evolving public service environment.
In his response, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo expressed appreciation to the union for its steadfast role in advocating staff welfare.
He noted that unionism is rooted in the fight for welfare and dignity of workers, recalling his own long-standing experience in grassroots struggles.
“Unionism is about welfare. I have been in the struggle for a while, I’ve been in the trenches, and I understand what welfare means to the people. Welfare is very, very important,” the Chairman stated.
He further reassured the gathering that issues raised are consistently given due attention, pointing to the functionality of the council’s clinic as an example of welfare-centered initiatives already in place.
Looking ahead, the Chairman announced the introduction of the Onigbongbo Marshal, a local security and support initiative that will see the recruitment of not less than 100 members from the local government.
Hon. Adebanjo stressed that all staff have direct access to political office holders and should feel free to come forward with any challenges they encounter.
