Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has appealed to the public for financial assistance, disclosing that she is battling a brain tumour while facing homelessness and mounting medical expenses.
The actress made the appeal during a recent live session, where she revealed that she had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and was recently evicted from her residence, leaving her without accommodation.
Abubakar said her situation worsened after she spent her savings on her mother’s hernia surgery, which reportedly cost ₦9 million in October 2025. According to her, funds earlier donated to support her medical treatment could not be used to resolve her housing challenge, as her landlady allegedly rejected the payment and asked her to vacate the property.
Visibly emotional, the actress said she had packed out of her home and had nowhere to go, stressing that the ordeal had left her distressed and desperate for help.
She appealed to prominent individuals and Nigerians at large, specifically mentioning former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello, social media activist VeryDarkMan, and Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, asking for support.
Abubakar also dismissed claims that she was feigning illness to attract sympathy or financial support, insisting that her condition is genuine and serious.
She disclosed that she requires about ₦25 million to cover the cost of surgery, post-operative care, accommodation and feeding. According to her, she relocated to Abuja to be close to Turkish Hospital, where she has been receiving treatment, and has been on medication for about a year.
The actress further revealed that, in addition to the brain tumour, she has been advised that her spleen needs to be removed, adding to her medical and financial burden.
This is not the first time Abubakar has sought public assistance. In February 2025, she appealed to the Kogi State government for help without disclosing details of her illness. She had earlier announced her withdrawal from acting in 2022, citing ongoing health challenges.
Abubakar urged Nigerians and relevant authorities to come to her aid, saying she had exhausted all personal options and had no other means of support.
