Otokutu, Delta State, has been rocked by a horrifying tale of betrayal, ritual killing, and extortion, as police uncovered the gruesome murder of a prominent businessman, Mr. Paulinus, popularly known as Easy Boutique. The victim was allegedly beheaded by his close friend, Efe Money, in collaboration with the Otokutu Chief Priest and other accomplices.
The shocking discovery was made during an operation led by CSP Aliyu Shaba, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ekpan, who exhumed the victim’s head buried in a shrine. The crime, described by many as a betrayal of the highest order, has left the community reeling.
A Chilling Crime
Comrade Israel Joe, a human rights activist, revealed details of the murder, describing how Efe Money, a trusted confidant, orchestrated the killing of his benefactor. Paulinus, a successful businessman with a thriving boutique in Otokutu, was lured into a deadly trap, murdered, and his head buried in the shrine.
“This same boy, Efe Money, who threatened me after I exposed him, has now been apprehended with the head of his friend they beheaded,” Joe stated. “Paulinus was not just a friend but a destiny helper to this evil boy. Someone who entrusted him with access to his investments.”
Extortion After Death
The perpetrators continued to extort Paulinus’ family even after his death, collecting over ₦20 million in ransom under the pretense of securing his release. Their actions have drawn outrage, with many condemning the sheer audacity and wickedness of the suspects.
Police Action and Arrests
The crime, first reported by Joe in September, prompted swift action from CSP Shaba and his team. After weeks of investigations, they successfully located and exhumed the victim’s remains on Sunday. Efe Money and other suspects have since been arrested, with many calling for them to face the full weight of the law.
Community Outrage and Calls for Justice
The Otokutu community has been thrown into shock, with residents demanding justice and a review of traditional practices that enable such atrocities. Comrade Joe praised the police for their efforts, saying, “The wicked shall not go unpunished. God bless CSP Aliyu Shaba for his dogged commitment to justice.”
The activist, who has faced threats for exposing the crime, issued a warning to anyone attempting retaliation, stating, “If you leave the police net, my name is not Israel Joe.”
