The principle is essential for strong relationships and real success because life works best in balance. When we give our time, kindness, or knowledge, we build trust and respect; when we accept help and opportunities, we grow stronger and wiser. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi showed how giving can inspire change, while thinkers like Adam Smith explained the value of mutual exchange. Practising this balance brings cooperation, growth, and lasting success, but ignoring it by only taking or only giving leads to broken trust or burnout. True strength lies in balanced exchange.
