The Federal University of Technology Minna has declared that it will not cede its Bosso campus to the Niger State Government, nor agree to any joint use arrangement with the College of Medical Sciences of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University.
The university’s position was outlined in a campus bulletin issued following its 518th Senate meeting.
The decision comes amid an ongoing dispute between the institution and the state government over the ownership and control of the Bosso campus, a disagreement that began about a month ago.
The Niger State Government had earlier indicated plans to take over the facility, maintaining that the land on which the university is situated belongs to the state.
However, the university Senate has firmly rejected both the proposed takeover and any form of shared use of the campus.
The latest development is expected to heighten tensions between the university and the state government as both parties maintain opposing positions on the matter.
