The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dismissed 43 personnel over various acts of professional misconduct, including desertion, scandalous behaviour, and patrol-related offences.
The decision was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide.
According to the statement, 31 officers were dismissed for desertion, five for scandalous conduct, and seven for patrol misconduct.
The Corps said the action sends a clear message that the FRSC badge remains a symbol of honour and responsibility, warning that any officer who violates the institution’s standards will face strict disciplinary measures.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed described the dismissals as a firm reaffirmation of the agency’s zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline and ethical breaches.
He stressed that the FRSC, as a professional paramilitary organisation, operates under strict standards and would not condone behaviour capable of undermining public trust, institutional integrity, or its mandate.
The Corps Marshal noted that desertion constitutes a serious violation of service oath and operational responsibility, particularly in a safety-critical organisation tasked with protecting millions of road users daily.
He added that scandalous behaviour and patrol misconduct erode public confidence and contradict the Corps’ core values of discipline, transparency, and service excellence.
The FRSC assured Nigerians that it would intensify internal monitoring mechanisms, strengthen supervisory frameworks, and promote ethical reorientation across all commands nationwide.
The management reiterated its commitment to building a professional workforce grounded in integrity, discipline, and operational excellence, and urged members of the motoring public to continue supporting the Corps in its mission to ensure safer roads across the country.
