The Kano State Fire Service has successfully rescued a 23-year-old woman who fell into a well in the Gurungawa area of Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, February 10, 2026, and triggered an emergency response after a distress call was received at about 12:25 a.m. The call was reportedly placed by a resident, Lawan Aminu.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the agency, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Emergency Response Unit was immediately mobilised from the Fire Service headquarters and dispatched to the scene.
According to the statement, firefighters arrived at the location and found a young woman trapped inside the well. She was rescued alive and later identified as Ladidi Muhammad Sani.
The victim was subsequently reunited with her father, Abdullahi Sani, following the successful rescue operation.
The Fire Service said investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the incident. The agency also advised residents to exercise caution around open wells and other potentially hazardous areas to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
