A major fire outbreak has razed a chemical company and a cold room storehouse at Alaba Suru, just after the Mile 2 Bus Stop in Lagos, with properties worth millions of naira destroyed.
The inferno reportedly broke out at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and engulfed the affected facilities before emergency responders brought the situation under control. Although no casualties were recorded, firefighters and other emergency officials remained at the scene on Sunday morning to extinguish residual smoke and assess the extent of the damage.
A TVC News correspondent, Ayomide Ajeigbe, who is at the location, reported that the affected structures were severely damaged by the fire.
In a related incident, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed another fire outbreak at the Idiroko inward Ogolonto area of the state. In a statement posted on its official X handle on Sunday, the agency said it had been alerted to the incident and was responding accordingly.
LASTMA disclosed that its personnel had been deployed to the area to manage traffic and ensure the safe and free flow of vehicles while emergency operations were ongoing.
Meanwhile, TVC News recalled a previous fire incident that gutted a shopping complex and adjoining shops along Amore Street in the Ajegunle Boundary area of Lagos, destroying goods valued at millions of naira.
A preliminary report signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, stated that the Ajegunle fire was reported at about 2:40 a.m. through the agency’s 767/112 toll-free emergency lines, prompting the immediate activation of emergency response teams from its Cappa Base in Oshodi.
