A tense situation unfolded yesterday evening in Abuja, Nigeria, as flames engulfed the Mainland Oil and Gas filling station in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory. The incident, which began around 5:30 pm, reportedly originated from a tanker discharging fuel at the station, which caught fire during the process.
Emergency services, including personnel from the FCT Fire Service and local police units, swiftly responded to the scene to contain the blaze. FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, confirmed that Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh promptly mobilized resources to manage the situation.
Fortunately, there were no reported casualties, though the tanker itself suffered extensive damage. Adeh assured the public that the combined efforts of emergency responders and community members successfully extinguished the fire before it could spread further and cause additional harm.
Investigations into the exact cause of the fire are ongoing. Despite the damage to the tanker and property, authorities have assured that the situation is now under control and normalcy has been restored to the area.
