The Federal Government has announced the commencement of applications for the second cohort of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme, aimed at boosting human capital development across the country.
Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, disclosed this in a statement on Monday via his official X handle, describing the initiative as a key pillar of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the minister, the programme is designed to address the growing demand for practical and technical skills in Nigeria’s economy, while empowering citizens with opportunities for self-reliance and employment.
Alausa noted that the first phase of the programme recorded overwhelming interest, with over 1.3 million applications received nationwide, underscoring the relevance of vocational education in the country.
He announced that the application portal for the second cohort would open at 4:00 pm on Monday, April 13, urging Nigerians of all ages to take advantage of the opportunity.
The minister encouraged prospective applicants to visit the programme’s official website to complete their registration and access further details.
He added that the initiative remains a strategic effort by the government to equip citizens with market-relevant skills, improve productivity, and stimulate economic growth.
The TVET programme is part of broader efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen the education sector and reduce unemployment through skills acquisition and workforce development.
