The family of the late Oluwakemi Oyeteju James has announced the burial arrangements for the businesswoman, who passed away on March 12, 2026.
In a statement released on Sunday by her husband, Michael James, a journalist and Senior Special Assistant (Lagos Liaison) to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, the funeral rites are scheduled to hold over two days, March 31 and April 1, 2026.
According to the statement, a Service of Songs will take place on Tuesday, March 31, at the Stella Hall of Daystar Christian Centre, located on Ikosi Road, Oregun, Lagos, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The funeral service is slated for Wednesday, April 1, at the same venue from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., after which the interment will be conducted privately by family members.
Mrs. James, fondly known as Kemi, was born on July 29, 1972, and is survived by her husband and two children, Kufreabasi and Anietientebasi.
She had her early education in Shomolu, Lagos, before attending Shepherdhill Girls High School, Obanikoro, and later Federal Government Girls’ College Oyo. She went on to study at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and Yaba College of Technology, where she obtained her Higher National Diploma.
Professionally, she began her career with an industrial attachment at First Bank of Nigeria in Ikeja, working in the savings department. She later worked as a reporter and researcher at African Concord Magazine and also served in the proofreading and finishing department of Modern Design and Associate in Lagos.
Following her participation in the National Youth Service Corps scheme in 2000, during which she served at the Lagos State Printing Corporation, she worked briefly as a marketing executive at Swift Freight International before venturing into private business.
Driven by her passion for cooking, she established Limelight Caterings Limited, a business that grew from serving family and friends to handling large-scale corporate and private events. She was widely recognised for promoting healthy and organic cooking.
Family members described her as dedicated, hardworking, and committed to excellence, noting that her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her.
