Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective March 28, 2026.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Aondoakaa said his decision followed careful reflection and extensive consultations with family members, political associates, and supporters.
He described the move as necessary in the overall interest of his people and in line with democratic values.
Despite his resignation, the former minister expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as visionary leadership, particularly acknowledging the attention given to Benue State under the current administration. He also reaffirmed his continued support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Aondoakaa extended gratitude to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, commending his leadership role within the APC in Benue State and his influence on the state’s political landscape.
He also thanked party members and supporters across Ushongo Local Government Area, Benue State, and beyond, noting that the relationships built during his time in the party remain invaluable.
While urging his supporters to remain calm, peaceful, and steadfast, Aondoakaa hinted at a new political direction, stating that plans aimed at repositioning Benue State would be unveiled in due course.
