The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has commenced academic activities at Northwest University, Kano, after enrolling as a 200-level student in the institution’s Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme.
The monarch was seen on Tuesday attending lectures alongside other undergraduates, dressed in a black flowing robe and a white turban, drawing attention from students and staff.
Sanusi’s return to the classroom follows his recent admission into the university’s law programme, where he is studying Common and Sharia Law. The institution said the special admission was granted in recognition of his extensive experience in governance, economics and public service.
Established in 2012, Northwest University is one of two universities owned by the Kano State Government.
Despite holding a doctorate degree and having served as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi has continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to education and intellectual engagement. He remains a prominent public figure known for his advocacy on social reform, governance and national development.
Images of the Emir attending lectures have since circulated on social media, generating widespread interest and discussion about lifelong learning and leadership by example.
