Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has returned to the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the continuation of hearing on his bail application in a corruption case instituted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The proceedings, presided over by Justice Rilwan Aikawa, are expected to determine whether the former governor will be granted bail as his trial continues.
El-Rufai had earlier been remanded in ICPC custody after his last court appearance on March 31, following the late submission of a counter-affidavit by the prosecution.
The case involves a 10-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering, abuse of office, and other related financial offences.
Security has been heightened around the court premises, with operatives restricting movement as the hearing resumed amid increased public interest.
The outcome of the session is considered pivotal, as it will decide whether El-Rufai will continue to stand trial from detention or be released on bail pending the conclusion of the case.
