According to sources, there are fears that the new covid-19 Delta variant is fast spreading in the country. In a statistic report uploaded by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), a total number of 206 new cases were recorded, the highest in months.

The latest report by NCDC shows an increase from the 146 daily cases bringing the infected cases to about 169,884. The report also shows that no new deaths were recorded.

By indication, the NCDC report shows that about 132 cases were recorded in Lagos, Akwa-Ibom with about 56 infections while Ekiti with five cases, Delta State with three infection cases while Rivers, Enugu, Jigawa and Katsina all reported two cases each. Gombe and the FCT states recorded one cases each.

There are in total about 3,000 active cases.
