The (LASTMA) has confirmed that 13 persons, including a four-year-old child, survived a lone road accident involving a fully loaded Mazda commercial bus along Coastal Road in Lagos.
The crash occurred opposite Lafiaji inward Okun Ajah, where the vehicle reportedly lost stability, somersaulted and landed on its side, trapping passengers inside the wreckage.
According to LASTMA, its officials responded promptly to the distress call, rescued the injured occupants and coordinated emergency medical assistance at the scene.
The four-year-old boy, his mother and two other victims were transported to the Mother & Child Hospital, Abraham Adesanya, for treatment, while other injured passengers were taken to nearby health facilities by bystanders.
Authorities said the cause of the accident is yet to be determined. The case has been handed over to the police division at Abraham Adesanya for further investigation.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, sympathised with the victims and wished them a speedy recovery. He also urged motorists, particularly commercial drivers, to avoid reckless driving and adhere strictly to speed limits and traffic regulations.
The agency further advised road users to remain vigilant and prioritise safety at all times.
