Akintoye Benson, an aide to the chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, has tragically passed away in an auto crash.
Benson, whose wrecked vehicle was captured in a viral video, was reported to have lost his life in the accident that occurred on Thursday night on Third Mainland Bridge.
Confirming the sad news, a friend of the deceased, Ogunseye Vincent, expressed his shock and paid tribute to Benson’s vibrant personality and ambitious vision.
“The news of your passing came to me as a rude shock. You were a vibrant man with high hopes and vision.
“Though the memory we shared remains forever, I take solace in the trust that Olodumare will grant your soul a peaceful rest. Sail well to eternity, Comrade Akintoye Benson (Baba Ogun),” Vincent added.
Until his demise, Benson held the position of chairman at the Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOOAN) Zone H.
Efforts to obtain a comment from Akinsanya were unsuccessful as his phone was unreachable at the time of filing this report.
The passing of Akintoye Benson has left a void in the transport sector, and his legacy as a vibrant and visionary leader will be remembered by many.
