Reports reaching THE LAGOSIAN confirms an ongoing coup at Guinea Bissau.
According to information, there is a heavy presence of armed men around the Palace of Government.

It is said that the ousted president Umaro Sissoco Embalo and Prime Minister Nuno Gomes Nabiam had gone to attend a high-powered cabinet meeting at the government residence when the coup took place.
The recent political putsche in the former portuguese colony adds to other three African countries in West Africa such as Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso -that have experienced military takeovers in less than 18 months.

The region’s mounting instability is due to discussed on Thursday at a summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
