September 30, 2025 – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that more than 6.2 million Nigerians have completed online pre-registration in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), with Borno State overtaking Osun and Lagos to claim the top spot.
According to week six figures released on Monday via INEC’s official website and X handle, a total of 6,232,673 pre-registrants were recorded between September 22 and 28, 2025.
The data shows that females accounted for 52.15% (3,250,338), while males represented 47.85% (2,982,335). Young people aged 18 to 34 dominated the process with 4,230,715 registrations, while students contributed 1,565,824 entries. Persons with disabilities also featured prominently with 137,865 registrants.
Borno State topped the chart with 682,805 entries, displacing Osun (599,363) and Lagos (555,442). Other leading states include Kebbi (472,662), Ogun (450,897), Kaduna (376,054), Kogi (298,194), Kano (290,690), and Yobe (258,693). The Federal Capital Territory recorded 227,397 entries.
At the lower end, Ondo registered 14,388, Edo 10,278, Ebonyi 6,935, Abia 5,225, and Enugu ranked lowest nationwide with 5,092 pre-registrations.
INEC also disclosed that in week five alone (September 22–26), 1,004,132 Nigerians completed both online and physical registrations, including 537,743 online and 466,389 physical. Females represented 55.28% (555,077) of the week’s total, while youths accounted for 742,379 and persons with disabilities 13,987.
Until recently, Osun, Lagos, and Ogun had consistently led in the exercise since it began on August 18, 2025. However, the latest figures highlight a surge in participation from northern states, particularly Borno and Kebbi, following intensified mobilisation drives by community organisations, religious leaders, and local officials.
The CVR exercise is expected to continue in the weeks ahead as INEC ramps up efforts to expand voter access ahead of the 2027 general elections.
