30th September 2025 – Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko, from his cabinet with immediate effect.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, announced the decision in a statement issued early Monday, describing it as part of a “minor change” to the composition of the State Executive Council.
“In that respect, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab-Baban Takko, has been relieved of her appointment with immediate effect,” the statement read.
Gidado added that Governor Mohammed appreciated the commissioner’s contributions and wished her success in her future endeavours.
The dismissal comes amid recent disciplinary actions within the Bauchi State civil service. Last week, the State Civil Service Commission confirmed the dismissal of two senior government officials over forgery, in violation of Public Service Rule 0327.
Similarly, on September 11, an education officer was sacked for gross misconduct involving sexual harassment.
The latest shake-up underscores the administration’s efforts to enforce discipline both within the cabinet and the civil service.
