No fewer than 70 political parties in Enugu state on Thursday rejected the call for the removal of the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr. Emeka Ononamadu. Rochas Okorocha, Governor of Imo State, was spotted at the vocational/support groups rally for Uche Nwosu, governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) yesterday, March 7th, 2019. Okorocha was recently suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for endorsing Nwosu, his son-in-law, over the governorship candidate of the party, Hope Uzodinma. An Abuja High court has rejected a move to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to redeploy the Akwa Ibom Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Mike Igini, away from the state. The ex parte injunction was sought by Mr. Stanley Okpara and had INEC and Igini as first and second respondents respectively. Recently, chieftains of the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC called for the redeployment of Mr. Igini after they accused him of not being straight in his duties. The Lagos State Government says there’s no public holiday on Friday, March 8, advising all civil servants to be at their various duty posts. The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Kehinde Bamigbetan, made the disclosure in a statement in Lagos. Uber, the ‘King’ of ride-hailing apps around the world, seems to be losing the fight,  with so many competitors entering the market around the globe. Uber exited China in 2016, selling its China branch to Didi, its competitor in the region. In Southeast Asia, a similar situation occurred, where Grab acquired Uber’s ride-sharing and food delivery business in 2018. Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) in a statement on Tuesday, warned that Atiku should not be blackmailed not to take the legal step, adding that the calls prevailing on him not to approach the tribunal were uncalled for.
