The Association of Travel and Tourism Writers of Nigeria (ATTWON) will honour the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Director General, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Alhaji Nura Kangiwa, Director General, National Council for Art’s and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe among others with awards as Tourism Icon at the their forth coming quarterly Tourism Parliament.

The Tourism Parliament with the theme “Rethinking Tourism Through The Nigerian Youth” is billed to hold at Citi Heights Hotel, Ikeja on 7 December, 2022.

This was disclosed in a release signed by the president of ATTWON, Mr Ayo Omotoso.

“To us at ATTWON, it is paramount to celebrate and recognize the high significance of hosting United Nations World Tourism Organization international conference twice in Nigeria as facilitated by the Hon Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed”, Omotoso stated.

Omotoso stated further, “The Hon Minister has successfully showcased to the world having hosted UNWTO conference in 2018 and the recent UNWTO Global Conference on Linking Tourism, Culture and Creative Industries held at National Theatre,Iganmu, Lagos that Nigeria is safe, accommodating, blessed with diverse cultural values and tourism potentials against the wrong media reports in the western world”.

Omotoso disclosed that the Director General, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Alhaji Nura Kangiwa and Director General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe will also be honoured for reviving NIHOTOUR activities and NAFEST respectively.

“Some stakeholders, Key players and organization shall also be honoured for their positive impacts and contributions to tourism and hospitality advancement in Nigeria. (Mrs) Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, Initiator of Youth Tourism conference in Nigeria known as Youth Tourism and Hospitality Leaders Forum (YTHLF), Mr Omololu Olumuyiwa, Chairman, Citiheight and Citilodge Hotels, Mr. Olufemi Talabi, National President, Institute of Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN), Chief Abiodun Odunsanwo,
His Royal Highness , Oba Oladele Ayinla Odugbemi. Ali – Odu 1, The Olu of Lisa Kingdom and Epe Resort and Spa”, Omotoso concluded.
