Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress.
The submission took place at the party’s national secretariat amid heavy presence of supporters and loyalists who gathered ahead of Atiku’s arrival.
A video shared on the former vice president’s X handle showed a rowdy atmosphere around the venue as supporters struggled to gain access to the hall where the submission exercise was held.
In a statement accompanying the video, Atiku described the development as a decisive step in what he called a movement to restore prosperity and rebuild Nigeria.
According to him, the journey transcends politics and represents a collective effort aimed at renewing hope and rescuing the country from its current challenges.
He called on Nigerians across different regions, religions and backgrounds to support the movement, expressing confidence that the nation could be repositioned through unity and purposeful leadership.
The submission of the forms marks a major step in Atiku’s anticipated bid for the presidency in the 2027 general elections.
The ADC had earlier confirmed that the former presidential candidate completed payment of N90 million for the party’s presidential nomination form ahead of the submission exercise.
