Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has arrived in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to support the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate, Najeem Folasayo Salaam, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Atiku announced his arrival in a post on his X handle on Monday, saying he was in the state alongside a delegation of political associates to participate in the ADC’s grand finale campaign rally for Salaam, popularly known as Iwaloye.
According to the former vice president, the visit is aimed at rallying support for the ADC candidate and making a final appeal to voters ahead of Saturday’s election.
“We are here to rally support for our candidate and make a final appeal to the people of Osun State to entrust the ADC with the responsibility of delivering purposeful leadership, good governance and a better future for all,” Atiku said.
He added that he was in Osogbo to stand with Salaam and other members and supporters of the party at the final campaign event.
Atiku is expected to join other ADC leaders and supporters at the campaign finale as the party intensifies its mobilisation efforts ahead of the August 15 poll.
The Osun governorship election is expected to feature a competitive contest among candidates of various political parties as they make their final appeals to voters across the state.
