The All Progressives Congress has formally notified the Independent National Electoral Commission of a new date for the conduct of its State Congress in Ondo State following an interim order issued by the Federal High Court in Akure.
In a letter dated March 9, 2026, and addressed to the INEC Chairman, the party explained that the decision to reschedule the congress became necessary after the court restrained both the electoral commission and the APC from conducting the earlier planned exercise.
The letter was jointly signed by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru.
According to the party, the court had issued an ex-parte order on March 2, 2026, preventing the conduct of the Ondo State Congress which was originally scheduled for March 3.
The APC stated that it had since activated its internal mechanisms to address the issues that led to the court action.
The party said the congress has now been rescheduled to hold on March 11, 2026, at the International Cultural and Events Centre, also known as The Dome, in Akure by 10 a.m.
The APC also apologised for any inconvenience the change of date may have caused and urged the electoral commission to take note of the development and act accordingly.
