The Association of Juju Musicians of Nigeria (AJUMN) has announced the passing of Otunba Jimi Balogun, husband of the association’s National President, Queen Ayotunde Balogun. He died on Friday, 21 November 2025.
The news has thrown the AJUMN community into mourning, with members across Nigeria and the diaspora describing his death as a painful loss. Otunba Balogun was widely regarded as a strong supporter of the creative industry and a respected figure known for his humility and encouragement of musical talents.
Condolences From AJUMN Eko Leadership
Leading tributes, the AJUMN Lagos State Governor, Dr. Segzy Da Water, the Deputy Governor, Shola Vibrator, and the entire executive council of AJUMN Eko expressed their condolences to the National President and the Balogun family.
The Lagos chapter noted that all AJUMN Eko members stand united with the family during this difficult period.
Diaspora Members Join in Mourning
Messages of sympathy have also been sent from AJUMN members in the diaspora, including Asiwaju Dele Taiwo, King Tunde Samson, Arabian Jerry, Tunde Fitila, King Segun Blessing, Ambassador Seun Marcus, Anjola Bravo, and several other prominent members.

Event Postponed in Honour of the Deceased
As a mark of respect, the AJUMN Eko Award Day and End-of-the-Year Event, earlier scheduled for Thursday, 27 November 2025, has been officially postponed by the state executive council and the event committee.
Burial Arrangements
The burial rites for Otunba Jimi Balogun will take place on Thursday, 27 November, and Friday, 28 November 2025 in Lagos State.
AJUMN has urged members nationwide and abroad to support and stand by President Ayotunde Balogun and her family throughout the mourning period.

Otunba Jimi Balogun is remembered for his kindness, his steadfast support for music and culture, and the positive impact he had on those around him.
