Growing older is a blessing, but true honour comes from integrity, wisdom, and kindness. An elder who walks with malice or unfairness eventually loses the respect age should naturally command. As the Yoruba proverb says, “Agbalagba se inú kòdòrò, ó sọ òórùn ìdí rẹ̀ di àfihàn” …hidden flaws are exposed when the heart is crooked. Let every elder lead with fairness and compassion because character, not age alone, is what earns lasting respect.
