The Adamawa State Government has held an emergency security council meeting following a violent communal clash that broke out in Lamurde Local Government Area.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, brought together critical stakeholders, including the paramount ruler of the Bachama Chiefdom, Homun Ismaila Shaga, in a bid to de-escalate tensions and restore calm.
Briefing journalists after the closed-door session, the government appealed for restraint from all parties involved, assuring residents that security agencies and state authorities are working tirelessly to stabilise the situation.
Officials said the administration remains committed to addressing both the immediate and underlying causes of the conflict. They added that all grievances raised by the affected communities will be thoroughly investigated.
Deputy Governor Farauta urged citizens to trust the government’s peacebuilding process, noting that the findings of the ongoing investigations will be made public to promote transparency and accountability.
The government reiterated its resolve to prevent further deterioration of law and order and pledged to intensify dialogue with traditional institutions, community leaders, and local groups to foster durable peace in Lamurde and other parts of the state.
