The Adamawa State Commissioner for Works, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, has decided not to join the All Progressives Congress amid the recent wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
Adamu, who is the son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, was notably absent from the list of 22 commissioners who accompanied Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in announcing their defection from the PDP to the APC.
His decision sets him apart from his brother, Abbah Abubakar Atiku, who earlier in January defected from the PDP to the APC in Adamawa State and was formally received by party leaders.
Political observers say Adamu Atiku Abubakar is expected to align with his father in the African Democratic Congress, although no official statement has been made to that effect.
