Tuesday November 25, 2025. Ketu neighbourhood in the city of Lagos was agog with a graduation ceremony. There is no Federal or State University in that neoghbourhood, but the atmosphere was so much like a convocation celebration of such an institution! It was the Agboyi-Ketu Tech Hub presenting a gift to the world! And the gift? A gang of well-trained youths of Agboyi-Ketu who have been released into their society and the global space to unleash their newly acquired skills in Tech. And this gift is sponsored by the Hon. Adetola Abubakar-led Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Government!
Located on Akintan Street (Mascara Area) off Demurin Road, Ketu, the Agboyi-Ketu Tech Hub is a well-equipped IT / Tech learning outfit of the Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. Complementary to the capital investment in setting up the Tech Hub, its programmes are fully sponsored by the LCDA Government! All the student has to do is to walk in, register for his/her choice courses and get trained in their desired Tech courses in line with the training modules provided by the trainers – who are of course paid by the Local Government. Courses on offer at the Agboyi-Ketu Tech Hub include:
Graphics Design
Desktop Publishing
Data Analysis & Engineering
Coding
Digital Marketing
Cloud Computing, etc…
The curriculum of Agboyi-Ketu Tech Hub is dynamic and moves with the tides in the Tech World… all courses taught free of charge!
In her speech at the graduation ceremony, Hon. Adetola Abubakar enjoined the youths of Agboyi-Ketu to create time to be volunteer trainers and career coaches, inspire other youths to embrace Tech and form business networks to render excellent services and develop their skills increasingly; all culminating in making Agboyi-Ketu proud! In her words; “my most important message to you Graduating Trainees and the in-coming ones is this; be an ambassador of your Tech profession in our community and globally, then form a formidable force amongst yourselves to make Agboyi-Ketu the very best in Tech!”
Certificates of course completion were presented to the graduating Tech Trainees of Cohort 1 2025. There was joy and hope in the building as the newly registered Trainees look forward to a bright career in Tech and Information Technology!
