The Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar is at it again! Leaping from one innovation to another, the Chairman like Robert Kiyosaki’s “Rich Dad” has officially become the “Rich Mum” of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA! In Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich-Dad-Poor-Dad story, his rich Dad was the man who trained him financial intelligence; a kind of education neither taught in schools nor at places of worship! It is only taught by discerning mentors, who are passionate about the financial and general success of their proteges!
On Thursday March 5 2026, Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar reinforced her administration’s commitment to grassroots enterprise development as the Council hosted a one-day Financial Literacy and Access to Finance training at the Agboyi-Ketu Tech Hub in Ketu. This programme is in sync with her 8-point agenda under the Infrastructure Development & Grassroots Economic Development arm of her manifesto. From one innovative programme to another, one-citizen-at-a-time, Hon. Adetola Abubakar is steadily transforming Agboyi-Ketu in ways that beat the imagination of the citizens and stakeholders!
This training on Financial Literacy and Access to Finance was delivered by the Abubakar-led administration in collaboration with the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSTEF). LSETF was established by The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund Law of 2016 to provide financial support to residents of Lagos State, for jobs, wealth creation and to generally tackle unemployment. Participants at the session were drawn from the current Tech Hub cohort studying Data Analysis and Graphic Design, Members of the Plank Market Merchants Association, Executives & Members of the Community Development Committee (CDC) and several Community Development Associations (CDAs). Facilitators equipped participants with practical knowledge in Book-keeping, Financial Management, Entrepreneurship and Pathways to accessing funding for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), while also highlighting the importance of proper documentation through agencies such as the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA) and the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS). Updating your records with these State bodies improve your chances of obtaining business support such as Loans, Grants, Tax Rebates, etc…
Chairman Abubakar joined participants at the training, engaging directly with entrepreneurs, youth and community representatives who aired their reflections on what they had learned and how the knowledge would transform their businesses. Their enthusiastic feedbacks — from plans to improve financial record keeping to clearer strategies for accessing business support and funding — highlighted the impact of the training. It also underscored the growing role of the Agboyi-Ketu Tech Hub as a platform for developing skills, enterprise and opportunity across the LCDA.
