November 5, 2025 The Senior Citizens Association of Nigeria were gathered for their Annual General Meeting and decoration of their Executives and distinguished members.
Prominent among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were
Otunba Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke; former Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment
Mrs. C. Fagbemi; National President Senior Citizens Association of Nigeria
Mama Foyeke; Former National Vice President Senior Citizens Association of Nigeria
Hon. Amdalat Akinyemi; Deputy Leader of the Agboyi-Ketu Legislative House.
The Chairman, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA; Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar was there to grace the occasion.

It is really a delight to see the elderlies of our society having a united front to contribute to society and discuss matters that are peculiar to them. Engaging in such social and humanitarian activities keeps them alive and mentally active. As these senior citizens continue to task their brains and expend energy on their various assignments as members of the SCAN, their experience and wisdom like fresh water springs produce more and more positive results for the good of the society.
In the course of the meeting, the President singled out an emeritus member; Mrs. Foyeke who is a founding member of SCAN and former National Vice President to decorate and eulogize her for her hardwork and dedication to the Association over the years.

In her response, Mrs. Foyeke gave a brief history of the SCAN and in her speech honoured the founder; Late Mr. Oluyeba. She also eulogized the current President Mrs. Fagbemi who took up the mantle to ensure that the Senior Citizens Association of Nigeria remains functional and a force to be reckoned with. Mama Fagbemi did not allow the Association to die with the founder.
Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar is such an enigma who fits perfectly into every gathering she finds herself! Her interaction with the senior citizens was charming to say the least. She comes across as a daughter who appreciates her mothers and fathers for their selfless contribution to society. She expressed her joy for having the privilege of meeting with the elderlies of our society as a special guest. In her speech, she thanked the senior citizens for their impact in training the present generation of Nigerian adults with discipline and sustainable values. And even in their very old age, they are still good examples for the younger generations to follow! She prayed for longevity for them to do even more. They were rest assured that they have an able daughter who has the passion for their welfare and wellbeing, therefore they will be well taken care of. The Chairman announced that the Senior Citizens will be carried along in all programmes of her administration that may be relevant to them, citing the ongoing Medical Outreach at the same venue. They will be consulted. They will be engaged. They will be active. They will be happy!

The Government of Agboyi-Letu LCDA has a programme for the elderlies and the Chairman announced that forthwith, SCAN will be invited to every relevant programme and project of the LCDA as a recognized body. Cheers, applause and songs filled the air as Hon. Adetola Abubakar made these declarations to the delight of members of the Senior Citizens Association of Nigeria.
The Chairman was also representing Chief Stephen Oyedele, the political Apex Leader of Agboyi-Ketu who was also a special guest at the event. Chief Oyedele being a very senior citizen himself sends his greetings and reiterated that he is fully with the SCAN.
Just like I did, you would love the slogan of the Senior Citizens Association of Nigeria, which they chanted happily throughout the meeting…
Call: SENIOR CITIZENS
Response: HAPPINESS FOREVER!
