February 2, 2026, Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar; Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area flags off the Measles-Rubella Vaccination in Agboyi-Ketu. This event was held at the Ketu Primary Healthcare Centre on Akintan Street.
Ketu and its environs went agog in a carnival mode outing as the Chairman comes all out to ensure that every eligible child of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA gets vaccinated against the dreaded Measles-Rubella infection. There was a motorcade procession announcing loud and clear that the vaccination exercise commences! Nobody in any nooks and cranny of Agboyi-Ketu would deny awareness of Measles-Rubella Vaccination in Agboyi-Ketu. It was loud. It was attractive. It was intentional and decisive. And it is the Chairman herself that led the charge that every child from infancy to 14 years must be vaccinated.
The war against Measles-Rubella was won even before any case was reported. The MeV and ReV viruses; causative agents of these infections in children died on February 2, 2026 in Agboyi-Ketu. Total unresurrectable death!
As the Chairman gathered her people at the Ketu Primary Healthcare Centre, it was not just an awareness event, there was practical vaccination of babies and growing children as the flag-off was declared. The first set of children were vaccinated. Healthy children and happy parents filled the ultra-modern Ketu PHC, and the exercise was very successful with vaccination cards issued every child to certify that they were free from the Measles-Rubella virus and for record purposes.
This flag-off is part of a coordinated effort to strengthen child health outcomes and align with ongoing State and Federal immunization initiatives. The campaign reflects a policy-driven commitment to preventive healthcare, disease control and improved access to life-saving vaccines for children across the LCDA. By joining the nationwide vaccination exercise, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA is reinforcing its role in supporting Lagos State and the Federal Government priorities aimed at reducing infant and childhood mortality through routine and supplemental immunizations.
In her address, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar, emphasized that measles and rubella remain preventable yet pose serious public health threats if not properly managed. She described the campaign as a strategic investment in the future of the community. She also called on parents, caregivers and community stakeholders to actively support the exercise by ensuring that all eligible children are vaccinated. The Chairman reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through collaborations with State and Federal health authorities; the Lagos Health District II being an ever-dependable ally! She noted that effective partnerships are central to delivering tangible dividends of democracy at the grassroots.
Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar therefore formally declared the Measles–Rubella Vaccination Campaign open in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
The flag-off was witnessed by key stakeholders, including Mr. Oluwafemi Folami; Director of Nursing Services Lagos State Health District II, representing the Permanent Secretary, alongside other senior health officials of the LCDA. Also present were the Leader of the legislative House, Hon. Aderoju, five Councilors representing wards across the LCDA, and other community leaders.
