November 10, 2025, the Chairman’s Unity Cup Competition commenced with a football match between Ward D and Ward G Football Teams.
As part of programmes to commemorate the first 100 days of the administration of Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar as Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, a football tournament is being sponsored by the Chairman. The tournament will feature 8 teams which playoffs will lead to semi-final duels and finally the grand finale on a date to be announced soon, which will be part of the final events of the 100-Day celebrations.
The schedules of the tournament are as follows:
Match Day 1 Monday, November 10, 2025
Match 1: Ward D vs. Ward G 2:00pm
Match Day 2 Tuesday, November 11, 2025
Match 2: Ward A vs. Ward F 9:00am
Match 3: Ward B vs Ward C 2:00pm
Match 4: Adunni Ace Strikers vs. Ward E: 4:00pm
Semi-Finals: Thursday, November 13, 2025
Match 5: Winner Match 1 vs. Winner Match 2 2:00pm
Match 6: Winner Match 3 vs. Winner Match 4: 4:00pm
Venue of all matches is the ultra-modern Oba Lamina Mini Stadium on Agboyi Island.

Back to the opening match… After teams parade and photographs session with the teams, match officials and dignitaries in attendance, the match began with the blast of the Referee’s whistle. Oba Lamina Stadium was packed full to capacity with residents from all quarters of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA and guests as well, all cheering and enjoying the match, which was a real cracker!
Both teams put up spirited fight and Ward G finally opened scoring in the 30th minute. Ward D fought back but luck was not on their side as Ward G netted a second in the 40th minute of the first half!
After the break, highly entertaining football resumed with intense fireworks… Ward D was finally able to pull one back! It was a clash of the Titans that saw both teams trying to outdo each other in a very balanced and entertaining match.
The match ended 2:1 in favour of Ward G! Ward G advances to the next stage and will slug it out with the winner of Match 2 in the semi-finals on Thursday November 13.
