The Oyo State Police Command has disbursed a total of N20.12 billion to the families of 7,076 police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola, disclosed this during a cheque presentation ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, on Tuesday.
Adenola stated that the funds—totaling N20,123,420,691.70—were distributed to widows and next of kin of the deceased officers as part of the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts to support the dependants of fallen personnel.
He described the disbursement as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to the welfare of police officers and their families.
“This gesture reinforces the assurance that the sacrifices of our officers will not be forgotten. It is also a message to all serving personnel that the country and the force stand firmly behind them,” Adenola said.
He reiterated the force’s dedication to the welfare of both serving and deceased officers’ families, assuring continued support and recognition for their service to the nation.
