Ismaila Isa Funtua, President Buhari’s close ally and alleged member of the Aso Rock power players has died.
He was said to have lost his life to cardiac arrest on Monday, today.
Believed to be one of the unseen hands behind the Buhari Presidency, the late Funtua was a one time Managing Director of Democrat Newspapers and a former boss to the late Abba Kyari, erstwhile Chief of Staff to the President. Fungus hailed from Buhari’s home state, Katsina and had been a long term close associate of the President. He was the Chairman of Bullet, a big time Construction company that allegedly got a N30B contract from Central Bank of Nigeria recently.
A multi-millionaire businessman, Alhaji Ismaila Isa Funtua was once touted as a possible replacement for Abba Kyari but he was said to have slammed those who allegedly shortlisted him, insisting that the action was belittling.
He was said to have boasted in an interview on BBC Hausa service that even President Buhari would not dare ask him to be Chief of Staff.
“It’s ridiculing for some people to mention my name as a possible replacement for Abba Kyari,†he had reportedly declared.
This occurrence is surely a huge blow to the President.
