President Bola Tinubu has approved the reinstatement of M.S. Danjuma, Permanent Secretary in charge of Finance (Special Duties) at the Federal Ministry of Finance, with effect from October 21, 2026.
The approval was conveyed in a letter dated October 22, 2026, by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel.
Danjuma was suspended on August 21, 2026, alongside two other permanent secretaries, following a report submitted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The report concerned the activities of a purported agency known as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, allegedly promoted by George Buchi Nwabueze, with the suspected involvement of public servants in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
According to the report on the reinstatement, Tinubu approved the lifting of Danjuma’s suspension after due diligence and directed the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to recall him to duty immediately.
The reinstated permanent secretary is expected to resume his official responsibilities in accordance with the Public Service Rules, relevant regulations and ethical standards governing the Federal Civil Service.
The development marks the end of Danjuma’s suspension, which was imposed as part of measures taken following the ICPC’s findings concerning the activities of the purported special project office.
