VICTORIA, SEYCHELLES — General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, and his wife, Pastor Mrs Foluke Adeboye, have paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr Patrick Herminie, at the State House in Victoria.
The RCCG delegation, led by the Country Pastor of RCCG Seychelles, Pastor Terrence Payet, was warmly received by President Herminie during the significant engagement with the country’s highest office.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the President and the RCCG leadership to discuss the role of faith-based institutions in addressing social challenges and supporting national development.
Discussions centred on ways to strengthen support for young people, families and vulnerable communities, with particular attention to practical interventions that could make a measurable difference in the lives of citizens.
Among the issues considered were support for single mothers, drug addiction, youth empowerment and capacity-building for students.
The engagement also comes as RCCG hosts the Light-Up Seychelles programme and prepares for the dedication of its new church building, which houses a Youth Empowerment Office aimed at creating opportunities for young people and equipping them with relevant skills.
The discussions reflected a shared commitment by President Herminie and the RCCG delegation to explore stronger collaboration between government and faith-based institutions in building a more resilient and inclusive Seychelles.
Beyond spiritual guidance, the church’s engagement in the country is expected to encompass community development, youth empowerment and practical social interventions designed to complement existing national efforts.
The meeting also highlighted the growing importance of partnerships with faith-based organisations in responding to social challenges, particularly those affecting young people and vulnerable groups.
Both sides expressed a commitment to working together towards a stronger future for Seychelles through spiritual leadership, community engagement, youth development and targeted social interventions.
For RCCG, the engagement represents an expression of its belief that the mission of the Church extends beyond preaching hope to actively demonstrating that hope through service to humanity.
“At RCCG, we believe that the Church is called not only to preach hope, but also to become a channel through which hope is demonstrated,” the church stated.
The meeting between Pastor Adeboye and President Herminie therefore marked an important engagement between the RCCG leadership and the Seychelles government, with the potential to deepen faith-based contributions to national development and community wellbeing.
