Nigeria’s leading electricity generation company, Egbin Power Plc, has announced the commencement of applications for its 2026 PowerUp Internship Programme aimed at providing practical industry experience for young undergraduates.
The internship initiative is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world professional practice by exposing students to hands-on training in the power generation sector.
Egbin Power, widely regarded as the largest power generating station in Nigeria and one of the biggest single generating plants in Sub-Saharan Africa, said the programme will run from July to December 2026.
According to the company, the internship will help participants strengthen their technical skills, improve problem-solving abilities, build confidence, and gain valuable workplace experience.
The programme is open to students currently maintaining at least a Second Class academic standing or its equivalent at the time of application.
Eligible candidates are expected to be studying any of the following disciplines:
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Mechatronics Engineering
Chemistry
Chemical Engineering
Computer Science
Computer Engineering
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work within Egbin Power’s operational environment in Lagos, where they will be exposed to industry best practices and professional mentorship.
The company noted that the internship is a full-time programme and is targeted at undergraduates seeking practical exposure in the energy and engineering sectors.
Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications before the recruitment process closes. However, the company has not specified an application deadline.
Prospective candidates have also been advised to remain vigilant and avoid individuals or organisations requesting payment in exchange for employment opportunities, as legitimate recruitment processes do not require such fees.
The internship programme forms part of Egbin Power’s commitment to developing young talents and contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s energy workforce.
