Nigerian businessman and investor, Tony Elumelu, has expressed gratitude following his appointment as the incoming Chairman of Seplat Energy, pledging to guide the company through its next phase of growth and value creation.
Elumelu, who is expected to assume the position in January 2027, announced the development in a statement posted on his social media account on Tuesday.
He will succeed Udoma Udo Udoma as chairman of the energy company and said he looks forward to building on the achievements recorded under the outgoing leadership.
According to Elumelu, indigenous energy resources remain vital to the economic transformation of both Nigeria and Africa, noting that Seplat Energy’s commitment to strong corporate governance and effective execution aligns with his personal philosophy and business values.
He stated that he was honoured by the appointment and expressed confidence in the company’s future prospects.
Elumelu also commended the contributions of the outgoing chairman and the company’s leadership team, including Roger Brown, for their stewardship and efforts in strengthening the organisation.
He pledged to work with the board and management to deliver sustained value for shareholders while supporting the company’s long-term strategic objectives.
The business leader further congratulated Oritsemeyiwa Okon on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the company.
Describing Okon as a seasoned industry professional with extensive experience in the energy sector, Elumelu said he is confident that the incoming CEO possesses the expertise required to drive the company’s next phase of expansion and growth.
The transition is expected to mark a new chapter for Seplat Energy as the company seeks to consolidate its position within Nigeria’s energy industry while pursuing broader growth opportunities across the continent.
