The Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area Onigbongbo (LCDA) has marked first 100 days in office. The LCDA was aglow with celebration on Friday as residents trooped out in their numbers to commemorate this event.
The landmark celebration featured the official launch of the Mega Empowerment Programme 1.0 and the innovative Eco-Circulate Waste-to-Wealth Initiative. It signaled a renewed era of economic uplift, environmental sustainability and people-centered governance.
According to a statement made available by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fashina Olaoluwa, to the Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering resolve to turn challenges into opportunities for residents and stressed that the empowerment items provided were tools for building long-term, sustainable livelihoods.
Over 500 beneficiaries, including women, youths, widows, artisans, and traders, received support items such as cash grants, sewing machines, grinding machines, freezers, hairdryers, solar lights, generator sets, clippers, CNG tricycles, alongside ICT opportunities facilitated through a strategic partnership with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).
The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, who spoke at the event, lauded the initiative as a powerful step toward expanding economic access and improving livelihoods. He noted that the programme reflects Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to inclusive growth, youth development and community advancement across Lagos State.
The State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, also commended Hon. Adebanjo for embodying progressive ideals through initiatives that prioritize citizens’ wellbeing. He urged beneficiaries to maximize the value of their new tools and grants to grow their businesses.
Similarly, Dr. Abayomi Finnih, a respected member of the State’s Governing Advisory Council (GAC), congratulated residents for having a visionary and compassionate leader, calling on them to support the administration’s transformative agenda.

He further announced the forthcoming launch of the Onigbongbo Marshall (O’Marshall) Security Initiative, a community-based security network designed to strengthen neighborhood safety and support existing security agencies.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Eco-Circulate Waste-to-Wealth Programme, created in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser on Climate Change and Circular Economy and recycling platform PAKAM. The initiative enables residents to exchange recyclable waste for cash, rice, airtime, bus passes and other incentives, an innovative approach to environmental management and grassroots economic empowerment.
The event drew dignitaries from across the community, including Councillors led by the Leader of the Onigbongbo Legislative Council, Hon. Francis Nkwo; APC Onigbongbo LGA Chairperson, Alhaja Iyabode Akerele, and her executive members; traditional and religious leaders, and executives of the CDC and CDAs.
Describing the dual launch as a “new model for grassroots governance,” Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo emphasized that his administration is laying the foundation for a prosperous, inclusive, and secure Onigbongbo LCDA. He assured residents that the momentum will continue, with more initiatives in roads, education, security, innovation, and strategic partnerships already underway.
Concluding his address, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo declared: “What we are building is a legacy, not politics, not tokenism. A legacy of empowerment, innovation, and community-first governance.
Under the F.I.N.E Agenda, we will create an Onigbongbo LCDA where every resident can boldly say: This is our community, this is our government, this is our time.”
